Submissions
Dark Moon Digest
is looking for quality cover art for future issues of our quarterly
publication.
If you are submitting black and
white artwork for use on interior pages of Dark Moon Digest, please
visit
this page.
This contest is
open to all artists - professional, semi-professional or
amateur.
All
artwork submitted must be an original work of art. Artwork for our
cover does not have to be color, but it is highly preferred. (Most
non-color art is reserved for use on interior pages.)
Here are the rest
of the guidelines:
DEADLINE: There is no deadline for submission of artwork.
Artwork will be considered for future issues of the publication as
they are submitted.
COMPENSATION:
Artists will receive $25 (US) payment for each piece of artwork
used on subsequent covers of Dark Moon Digest (or accompanying anthologies).
They will also receive a copy of the issue of Dark Moon Digest in which
the
artwork appears. Artists will also be awarded a free full page
advertisement for your artwork in any future issue of Dark Moon Digest
they desire (within one year of publication). You will also receive a credit line in the
publication along with a bio (100 words max) in which to promote
yourself and your work.

All
artwork must be submitted by the artist holding the
copyright. (If your artwork is not copyrighted, don’t worry.
Copyright laws protect your work from the moment you created it. Check
here
for more information on copyrights.)

Your
artwork must be previously unpublished in print
format. Your artwork cannot be available in any format online except
on your own personal or business website.

By
submitting your artwork to this contest, you are
assigning Dark Moon Books First North American Serial Rights and the permission to
possibly publish the work in our annual anthology. (Dark Moon
Books plans to publish a yearly anthology which will contain the
best stories published in Dark Moon
Digest.
The artwork used on the cover of the anthology will be different
from the pieces chosen for the four quarterly issues of the
publication. Artwork chosen for the Anthology will receive $50
payment upon publication of the anthology, a copy of the book and a
free full page ad in a future issue of Dark Moon Digest.) You
keep all other rights including the original copyright.
Artwork published in either the magazine or the anthology will carry
notices which stipulate the copyright resides with the artist and
full credit will be given to the artist.

All
artwork should be submitted in 600 dpi. The original
artwork is not requested.

You may withdraw your
artwork from consideration at any point,
but this request must be made in writing (e-mail acceptable).

Entrants selected for publication will be contacted prior to
publication.

TO SUBMIT:

as a GIF attachment to
HorrorQuarterly@gmail.com. Please use
“DMD Cover Art” in your subject line.
